ABOUT GRACE HILL CHURCH · MORGAN HILL · ECO PRESBYTERIAN

One church.
One story.
All grace.

For 127 years a small congregation in Morgan Hill has been doing the same simple thing — gathering around the whole story of Scripture and the saving grace of Jesus. Here's who we are, and how we got here.

Our Story: 127 Years of God’s Faithfulness

Grace Hill Church began as Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church in 1898 — 23 charter members planting a gospel witness in what was then a small ranching community south of San Jose. The congregation moved to its current four-acre campus at the corner of Dunne and DeWitt Avenues in 1965. The Celtic cross that still stands at the entrance was placed then.

In 1983 the church joined the Presbyterian Church (USA) and served faithfully within it for three decades. But growing theological tension led to a defining moment in 2014. After deep prayer and congregational discussion, the congregation voted to leave the PC(USA) under its gracious dismissal policy and become one of the founding members of ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians.

96%

96% of the congregation voted to prioritize theological conviction over institutional comfort. That kind of clarity is rare. It still shapes who we are.

In 2021 the congregation voted again — this time to change its public name from Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church to Grace Hill Church. The new name placed the saving grace of Jesus above any denominational identifier, while also naming the geographic and spiritual reality: a church on a hill, in Morgan Hill, called to be a light.

In 2025 the congregation called Pastor Tyler Allred as Lead Pastor — a Morgan Hill resident since 2018, embedded in local schools and neighborhoods, with a vision for a church both deeply rooted in the Reformed tradition and boldly outward-facing in its mission to the city.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Scripture Alone

The Bible is God's authoritative, living Word — the supreme authority for faith and life, read through the trusted lens of the historic creeds and confessions.

Salvation by Grace

By grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. One true and living God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus the only Savior and Lord.

The Bible's One Story

Covenant theology — the whole Bible is one unified story from Genesis to Revelation leading us to Jesus. God has been a God of grace from the very beginning.

Reformed Tradition

Grounded in God's sovereignty, the authority of Scripture, sacramental worship, and deep ties to the community of faith throughout the ages.

Egalitarian Leadership

Our conviction from Scripture leads us to equip women and men in all leadership roles — elder, deacon, pastor, teacher. Spiritual gifts are not divided by gender.

Evangelical

The good news of Jesus — his life, death, and resurrection — is the heart of everything we do. We share it in word and in deed, engaging our Morgan Hill neighbors and joining what God is doing around the world.

Elder-Led

Christ alone is the head of His church. Grace Hill is shepherded by a Session of elders — men and women together — who decide in prayer and mutual accountability.

Sacraments

In baptism and communion, God himself moves toward us — covering his people with grace through these covenant signs, again and again. Both infant and believer baptism are practiced; communion is on the first Sunday of each month, open to all who trust in Jesus.

What ECO MEANS

Reformed. Evangelical. Egalitarian.

ECO stands for A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. The acronym is no accident — it also points to an ecosystem: a community that nurtures and cultivates flourishing ministry. Grace Hill became one of ECO's founding congregations in 2014, and we've been part of this fellowship ever since.

The three words — Reformed, Evangelical, Egalitarian — describe what defines us and our denomination, and you'll find the fuller version of each in What We Believe above.

A Note from Tyler

I love going deep on all things theology — so if you want to dig into any of our convictions, or ECO's, reach out anytime. You can also explore the denomination directly at eco-pres.org →

OUR LEADERS

A church led together.

Grace Hill is led by ministry staff, a Session of elders, a Deacon Board, and the support staff who keep our work running. Decisions are made together, in prayer, with mutual accountability — Christ alone is the head of his church.

MINISTRY STAFF

Tyler Allred

LEAD PASTOR · CALLED 2025

Tyler has called Morgan Hill home since 2018. He and his wife Melanie are raising four kids, and Tyler also teaches art at Paradise Valley Elementary. His preaching at Grace Hill takes the whole Bible seriously — Genesis to Revelation, all of it about grace.

Jane Liddle

WORSHIP PASTOR · SINCE 2018

Jane combines music leadership with a pastoral heart, gently leading and guiding others as they connect with their Creator and King. She will always say that there is nothing like corporate worship on this earth, and she feels privileged and honored to lead at Grace Hill. When Jane isn’t holding a guitar you might find her holding a pneumatic nailer or drill—she loves renovating a room, but can also be talked into chocolate, historical fictions and yes, always, holding a tennis racquet, her next favorite tool! Jane is married to George and they have 3 grown children, Caroline, William and Alexander who are the light and laughter of their lives.
